Five for Friday: Spend ALL the Money Edition

Finishing entire books in a day, multiple trips to Target and must be summer vacation! I hope all my summer weeks don't fly by so fast, I can't believe it's already time to link up with Kacey for Five for Friday!

Here's the rundown on my week...

Did everyone else get the memo that it was Spend All Your Money Week? Just me?

First it was (trips more than one) Target. Last year I waited too long and missed out on most of the cute Dollar Spot stuff, so once I saw Instagram explode with #targetteachers posts, I knew I had to head over there.

Can't wait to show off what I got and how I plan to use it in future posts!

I also headed over to Michaels to pick up the Holy Grail of Teaching Blogs Summer '16...

...and I definitely picked the right day to go, since all Heidi Swapp stuff was 50% off!

I am super excited to crack this open and make some slides! Can I tell you how happy I am that Learning in Wonderland and Live Laugh Love Second have posted tricks and made tutorials?? Seriously, if I had to figure this out on my own, this bad boy would be going straight back to Michaels!

I posted on Tuesday about a little hand-lettering gift I'm making my dad for his birthday, inspired by his favorite song. I finished up the second part of it this week...

Now I just need to slap both parts into a collage frame, add some pictures of my parents, and I'm good to go! Now I need a new hand lettering project.

Have you heard of NAEIR? It's an organization that takes overstock from large companies and then donates it to nonprofit organizations and hardworking teachers! You can find all kinds of things in their catalogs, and you just have to pay for the shipping (you need a minimum of $25 in shipping costs to place an order). I received my first shipment this week, which was mostly things like pens, erasers, and sticky notes, but I also saw these cute little dry erase boards and thought they'd be a hit in small groups:

I just couldn't resist! If you've used NAEIR before, what's the best deal you've gotten?

As I've started to ramp it up with the whole #teacherpreneur business, I've realized an assistant or two could come in handy. Unfortunately, funds are limited, so the best I could do was these two:

They specialize in: barking really loudly if they see a lizard, barking really loudly if a leaf flutters to the ground, barking really loudly when I'm trying to fix a line of code and making me lose my spot, stepping on my toes, demanding to be fed IMMEDIATELY at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and passive-aggressively sighing if I don't stop what I'm doing at half-hour intervals and pet them. I guess you get what you pay for!

Finally, don't forget to enter the giveaway I'm participating in with several other amazing educators!

  1. Thanks for sharing about NAEIR, those dry erase boards are adorable! I'll have to check it out!

  2. It's very hit or miss, and stuff moves quickly, but there's a lot of good bargains to have! I just scored some Crayola markers at a great price!

  3. Thanks for telling us about NAEIR. I had never heard about it and just signed up. I will have to check it out.

  4. Okay, I just have to know what on earth all of you are going to do with those light boxes! Maybe I need one! In the meantime, you are lucky your dogs can't jump. When my cat needs attention she climbs onto my desk and sits on the things I am working on. And stares at me..... Have a great weekend!
    Teachers Are Terrific!

    1. LOL...I used to have a cat that would sit on my stomach when I was doing sit ups. I had to jump on the light box bandwagon, we'll see what I come up with!

  5. I broke down to succumbed to all the Instagram peer pressure, too. I bought my light box yesterday and hit up the Target dollar spot several times! Thanks for the info about the tutorials!

  6. I've never heard about NAEIR but I am definitely going to check it out! That sounds awesome!

    1. Glad to introduce you to something new! Hope you have a great week :)
