Five for Friday...er, Saturday 12/12/15

It was one of those weeks where you look up at the sky and think to yourself, "Really? There ISN'T a full moon?" #ifyouknowwhatimean

But I survived! Just in time (kind of) to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday.

Here are the highlights of the week:

We are busy getting prepared for our Multicultural Festival next week, and I whipped up this France choice board to challenge their creativity:

Can't wait to see the finished products!

We also made this adorable Hot Cocoa Writing Craftivity from fellow TpTer LoveLeah...they loved it. Of course, bad blogger forgot pictures again, but I have them on my outside bulletin board, along with our Synonym Rolls! The kids loved making them!

This week was all about synonyms! After a whole group lesson and some practice, it was time for some independent learning! Each student received a Learning Menu:

I found these differentiated sheets and they were perfect for what I needed...each group was able to work independently on their sheets and I could also walk around and see who was grasping the concept and who needed a little more assistance...I must have said, "No, "hero" is not a synonym for "super" at least 3 dozen times!

I also made a Synonym Choice Board that is available in my store.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

During their independent work time, one of my boys came up to get his worksheet checked. His synonym for pretty was "buttfull." This is doubly funny because he had also previously titled one of his homework assignments "Boob Letter Words" instead of "Bubble Letter Words." I chuckled as we headed back for some one-on-one spelling instruction...the innocence of youth!

This may be a blogging faux pas, but if you didn't see my previous post, I'd appreciate a look! I already have a few ideas in mind for my next Mouth Off Monday!

Thanks for reading, and make sure to give Doodle Bugs Teaching some love!

    1. It did! Next time I will use a heavier paper for the cover so they don't blow all over the place (my board is outside).
