Five for Friday 11/27/15

Happy Friday! Hope your Thanksgiving was filled with family, fun, and many carbohydrates! I myself managed to wedge a tiny piece of turkey under my mountain of potatoes, stuffing, and casseroles to make sure I got my protein in.

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday...make sure to head over there and check it out!

Here are some Friday Favorites...

FAVORITE COOKING TIPS:
I am the designated side dishes/dessert person for my family, which means I spent approximately a million hours in the kitchen over the past few days. I pretty much have a go-to menu for the various holidays, but I always like trying new techniques/improving on what I know. Here's a few tweaks I made this year that were definite hits:

*PUMPKIN PIE- Use the recipe on the back of the can, but substitute a can of sweetened condensed milk for the evaporated milk. Some say to cut out the rest of the sugar if you do it this way because the sweetness of the milk is enough, but I say BRING ON THE SUGAR.

*CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES- Add a package of instant vanilla pudding to your mix for the most incredibly chewy cookies. I used this recipe: Pudding Cookies.  It is only because of my incredible willpower (/sarcasmfont) that any of these cookies actually made it to the dessert table.

**I have no pictures of these desserts, because of course I don't! #badblogger

FAVORITE THING TO HAPPEN THIS MONTH:

After an 11-month standoff, the guy I live with finally caved and hung up some pictures in the living room and dining room...a Thanksgiving Miracle! Now I feel like I live in a home and not a sanitarium!

FAVORITE DRUG STORE BEAUTY FIND:

As a throwback to my middle school days, I am loving some Aussie hair products right now! The 3-Minute Miracle has made my hair so soft and shiny...and it smells amazing, too!

FAVORITE CLASSROOM CONVERSATION THIS WEEK:

(While doing GoNoodle Zumba...)

Student: Ms. L, this guy is a GROWN UP! Why is he dancing like that?

Me: Do you think adults don't like to dance?

Student: But....he's like TWENTY! And he's acting like a teenager!

Me: (trying to hide my laughter)

Oh, to go back to when "TWENTY!" was the oldest age you could think of!

FAVORITE CREATIVE OUTLET:

Been slacking in this department, but I'm trying to get some new TpT products up before the sale. Since my Fall Singular/Plural Task Cards were a big hit, I threw together a Winter version as well...

...and I'm hoping to have this one up by the end of the weekend...

That's it for me! Don't forget to show some love to Doodle Bugs Teaching, and enjoy the rest of this loooong weekend!

  1. Turkey is my favorite part, but I'm a big fan of all the carbs too. I haven't created anything in a long while. I'm planning to check out your task cards. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks for the support! My new strategy is to try to find just 5-10 minutes a day to work on something...some days inspiration strikes and I keep going!

  2. YUM- condensed milk! Your recipes sound so great. Oh my gosh- we moved from this house because we thought we sold it- but moved back because we didn't (LONG STORRRRRY) and so now we are in the sanitarium stage of no pictures and decorations. I can totally relate to that. We do have nail holes where they should be. So yay??!?!?! I'm off to get that 3 minute miracle for my hair- it's so DRY! Have a great week!
