Five for Friday 9/25/15

Making it to Friday this week calls for all caps...HAPPY FRIDAY!

Due to a day off Wednesday...and an unexpected burst of energy yesterday, I got all my household chores (including LAUNDRY) done so I can just relax tonight and tomorrow. I'm very excited about this!

Linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday...thanks for hosting, Kacey!

Here are my random thoughts for the week...

Who else is going to admit they watch Empire? It's absolutely my favorite guilty pleasure and I'm so happy it's back!  My favorite part of the premiere was definitely Marisa Tomei's terrible dancing...glad to see Season 2 looks like it's going to be as over the top as Season 1!

Did it seem to anyone else like there was a rash of teacher bashing posts on social media this week...more than usual, that is?  I was sad to see some of these posts end up on pages that are meant to encourage teachers...we should know better than anyone that a picture or a note may not tell the whole story. I have a lot more to say about this...might be a good topic for a future blog post!

I was able to add two new products to my store this week...my Multiplication Choice Board is quickly becoming a best seller, so I added a Division counterpart...as well as a Fall Choice Board, since everyone loves the fall season (never experienced it in Florida...heard great things, though)! I love these choice boards because they address all the different learning styles we may have in our classrooms!

In an effort to have our students apply their learning in real world situations, my school holds a twice-monthly "Marketplace" where students shop/work at various businesses and services (everyone participates, K-8). This year I will be running the school post office!  Today we held our job fair, and I created a flyer to let students know what positions I had available...

Hoping for some qualified applicants!

A friend showed this to me last night, and I couldn't resist the opportunity to Peanutize myself...

I have very mixed feelings about this movie (I'm a purist) but I thought this was too cute!

Hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing weekend! Don't forget to head over to Doodle Bugs Teaching to share your Five for Friday!

  1. Your Peanuts character is cute! I hate the idea of teachers bashing each other. This profession is tough enough as it is without us lashing out at each other. It's so sad. It would definitely make a good blog post. :) Your Post Office job listing looks super cute! I hope you get lots of great student workers. (P.S. I would love to hear more about that program in a blog post too. It sounds both fun and practical - win, win!)

  2. Your Post Office project sounds so neat - in fact, I love the idea that your whole school does the real-world marketplace. How much fun is that! (A lot of work, I'm sure... but no doubt the kids love it and will always remember it!)

  3. I do love fall. I'm sorry you miss out in Florida! Your Quest boards look fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing the Peanuts movie. I'm a big fan of the originals, and I'm hoping I won't dislike the movie because it's different! We'll see!
