Five for Friday: Goodbye, Summer!

Happy Friday!

I'm linking up again with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

Welp, this is the (unofficial) end of my summer. I'll be heading back in to school next week to switch classrooms, and then teachers officially report back next Monday. Determined to stay as stress free as possible this year!

Really happy with the way my Spelling Choice Board came out:

Last year I had each activity worth a certain amount of points, and the students needed to have so many points by the end of the week...let me tell you, I didn't think that would be very confusing, but Oh.Em.Gee. I hope this makes things simpler for everyone! I'm also going to set up a notebook with an example of each activity that the students can use as a reference.

Also threw together a quick little ice breaker:

I always do some form of this activity on the first day of school.  Kids love getting out of their seats ASAP and it can lead to great discussions!

We're knee deep in labels over here...really testing the ink capacity on my new printer!

Anyone else do Kindle Unlimited? I love it, especially in the summer months when I'm not looking to read anything too heavy. I'm addicted to what I call "Lifetime Movies if they were books."

Here are a few examples that I've enjoyed. They're addictive! I think it's great that these authors can get such exposure by going with e-publishing. Anyone who is able to write a book gets my respect!

Seriously, can they make a new video already?

That's it for me! Hope everyone has a great weekend! Don't forget to share your Five for Friday at Doodle Bugs Teaching :)

  1. I have Kindle Unlimited too, and I love it! It's definitely cheaper than me buying all the books that I read! :) Thanks for the recommendations. I'm going to check them out! I've been printing tons for my classroom too. It's amazing how much needs to be printed every year (like labels)!

    1. I know, I feel like my house has been taken over by labels. I should buy stock in Avery!

  2. So you all think Kindle Unlimited is worth it?? I have been trying to decide! ;) I use our library's ebook apps a lot too, but don't like having to wait to get books! Hope your classroom switch goes well!

    1. It depends on the kind of books you're looking for. Unlimited doesn't really give you top bestsellers (though I think you might get a discount on other Kindle books?) but you do get to choose one free book a month and there is a variety of interesting books to be found.

Thank you! I'm excited to get in there and set up.

  3. What printer did you purchase? Are you happy with it? I am trying to decide between an hp color laserjet or the HP 8630. I buy so much stuff from tpt and do tons of printing.
    thank you

  4. We have an HP6830 (deal at Costco...the boyfriend loves Costco!) works decently, I wouldn't rave over it. Sometimes the color is off or it freezes in the middle of bigger jobs. However, I think I have some type of curse when it comes to printers. ;) I did have a Canon Pixma that I liked a lot, it was very efficient on ink.
