Five For Friday: 8/13/15

Hey there!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

What...a...week. I certainly hope this isn't a preview of things to come!

Well, I had grand plans to switch classrooms and have everything set up by today...

Yeah...not so much. The GOOD news is that I have physically moved everything from my old room to my new room (this picture was from before I started moving, so imagine things on every possible surface area). However, my building was getting an A/C upgrade and roof replacement this week...both of which are wonderful things but not conducive to me getting much work done. I guess I'll be living in my classroom next week!

On the bright side...

Super excited to see these bad boys in my room. Can't wait to introduce the kids to blogging!

Dog guilt trips are in full effect around here:

We all agree we need one more week of summer.

Since I couldn't do as much in my room as I wanted, I tried to be productive in other ways:

I used the Book Retriever app to scan these (except sometimes Scholastic uses different bar codes so you have to manually enter them, which is very frustrating), now I need to label and sort them into numbered baskets.  I'm looking forward to using the app to check out books for the students, with two classes it is difficult to keep track of who has what. Book Retriever also has an option to enter parent info so you may contact them directly if your books are not returned!

I also updated my rubric posters:

We use the Marzano Levels of Understanding as a self-assessment at my school, I just tweaked the wording slightly so it works for me. The posters are available in my TpT store.

Hope you all had a great week! Don't forget to link up to Doodle Bugs Teaching to share your Five for Friday!

  2. I love your Levels of Understanding! So cute!

If you haven't already, you should check out Edmodo. I used it a couple of years ago and LOVED it.

  4. Have you tried the Scholastic Book Wizard App to scan and level your books from Scholastic?

    1. I haven't, can you use the Book Wizard to check out books? That was my main reason for trying Book Retriever.
